about me...
hey all! my name is i-dra. no, it's not my given name, but rather a nickname bestowed upon me some years back. i liked it, started introducing myself that way, no one questioned it, so it stuck! i am living in portland, oregon joyfully unmarried to my partner, tim. we have a little boy together, solomon elijah, born in the wee hours of november 9, 2006 at a birth center on the oregon coast (for a link to home sweet home birth, please visit my links page!) i had been sewing clothes for a few years before he was born, but when he was about 2 months old, i decided i needed a mei tai, so i set about finding a pattern online. after my first, a friend encouraged me to start selling them & "sew at home mama" was born! i guess you could say that my business is my second baby! it's a labor of love & i truly enjoy what i do. i am a stay-at-home-mama, so the acronym worked to my advantage. we practice attachment parenting here, including cosleeping, cloth diapering, infant pottying, breastfeeding and, of course, babywearing! if necessity is the mother of invention, i know exactly how she feels! that's why "sew at home mama" is here for you. affordable baby carriers, in the fabrics you love, in a reasonable time frame, to make your parenting journey just a little easier.
