Sunset Junction is almost upon us!  It will happen Saturday, August 28 and Sunday August 30.  Some Los Angeles favorites make a reappearance.  Ozomatli is back again!  In case people forgot about classic acts like The Melvins and the Butthole Surfers, they have haven't forgotten their music.

Locals Shadow Shadow Shade, Hand, and Oh Darling will make an appearance as well.  Having seen their sets, they should all be really great.

The surprise "comeback" is Hanson.  They've actually been around all along, but it's been difficult for people to forget them as the bubblegum trio that gave the world "MMMBop."  They're all grown up now and looking quite handsome.  They are one of many bands who signed to a major label, only to be lost in the shuffle as the business shifted.  They are definitely a talented group.  They recently appeared on Jimmy Kimmel live.  They're worth another shot as adults.  Did you know they started off by singing a capella doo wop numbers?

Boy band. Three brothers. No, we aren’t talking about the Jonas Brothers. This is Hanson, those kids with the long hair. I swear, for a whole year I thought they were all girls. And when my dad told me otherwise, I didn’t believe him until I watched the music video again on VH1 (yes, those were the days when we didn’t have YouTube).

Hanson was famous for one song and one song only, but it became such a phenomenon that it won 2 Grammys in 1998. MMMBop by Hanson typifies the 90s. It was released in 1997 and gained success with its catchy sound yet meaningless lyrics. In fact, I just looked up the lyrics online and was surprised to find that there are more words in the song than just “Mmm bop, ba duba dop/Ba du bop, Ba du dop/Ba du bop, Ba du dop/Ba du/Yeah” because I sure don’t remember anything else.

Today, Oklahoma natives Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson are 30, 28, and 25 respectively. How the heck did those kids get so old?! They’re even married with children, but that hasn’t stopped them from turning out the hits. Hanson released their latest album “Shout It Out” in 2010, with the music video for the upbeat single “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” making it on the VH1 Top 20 this year.
