It's the business for courses to jobs
Dublin Business School (DBS) is offering 13 free HETAC special purpose and minor awards under the Springboard initiative, spanning Levels 6, 7, 8 and 9 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). Course offerings include cloud computing, export management and enterprise development, internationalisation and innovation, funding and treasury and project management. All courses are part-time and typically run over two evenings per week, making the transition to study easier for those with families and other responsibilities. The programmes have been designed to meet current and future skills needs and are aimed at helping jobseekers get back into employment.
DBS has proven expertise in designing, developing and delivering educational programmes to adult learners from a range of education and experiential backgrounds. DBS Springboard course participants will have a dedicated programme leader who is responsible for the overall management and development of the relevant programme and the management and support of adult learners on that course. The college will provide dedicated learning support services such as: careers services, employer liaison officers, student services as well as a state-of-the-art library, IT facilities and e-learning support.
The suite of ICT programmes specialises in the area of cloud computing and focuses on the skills needed to develop and support new cloud technologies. A report published in January 2011 compiled by Goodbody for Microsoft Ireland suggests cloud computing could create €9.5bn in annual sales by 2014, supporting almost 9,000 jobs in Ireland. All programmes have been jointly designed by Microsoft Ireland and Dublin Business School. The Certificate in Software and Cloud Technologies has been developed to provide participants with the building blocks needed to begin a career working in programming.
Guest speakers from the Digital Hub in Dublin, Microsoft and other companies will deliver in-class seminars to participants on these programmes, providing an opportunity for participants to network with professionals in the industry.
DBS is currently accepting applications through the Springboard website, www.bluebrick.
