Liberty Mutual Insurance Contributes $100000 to Milwaukee Causes Through 'Like ...
Liberty Mutual Insurance, one of the nation’s leading auto and home insurers with three greater Milwaukee offices, today awarded $100,000 to seven local Milwaukee nonprofit causes as part of the Facebook-based ‘Like My CommunityTM’ campaign. Milwaukee residents cast more than 33,000 votes on the social network Facebook for their favorite causes, all nominated by local Liberty Mutual agents, and Liberty Mutual donated $30,000 each for improvements and renovations to the top three voted causes. The three recipients include Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Rescue Mission and Washington County Humane Society.
Liberty Mutual also awarded the four runners-up with an unexpected $2,500 each to support improvements and renovations. The runners-up include Albrecht Free Clinic, Ozaukee Interurban Trail Advisory Council, Prevention & Protection of Abused Children, Inc. (PPAC) and The West Bend Baseball Association.
Boston-based Liberty Mutual launched the campaign in May to give its 20 local Milwaukee auto and home insurance sales and customer service agents a way to extend their commitment to Milwaukee beyond helping people protect their cars and homes by championing the causes that benefit the communities and neighborhoods in which they live and work.
“Our local sales agents were excited to engage the community to support charities and organizations they are personally impassioned by, and we were thrilled to see greater Milwaukee rally behind these worthy causes,” said Dave Lindke, area manager for two Liberty Mutual offices in the city at 11800 West Park Place and 330 East Kilbourne Avenue, and one in Brookfield at 15700 West Bluemound Road. “Now the great reward will be to see these donations put to work to benefit so many in need.”
Each of the winning organizations has meaningful plans to use the $30,000 to make a real difference in the Milwaukee community:
• Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (nominated by Liberty Mutual agents Jeremy Hendrix and Reed Noel): The hospital will use the $30,000 award to fund Playroom of Hope, a space for entertainment and solace to be used by toddlers and school-age siblings of hospitalized children. “Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin is special because it provides care, support and resources for the whole family, not just the patient,” said Maggie Butterfield, director of patient care amenities.
