BENEFIT SPAGHETTI DINNER: The Manchester Police Department hosts a benefit spaghetti dinner from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 567 St. Joseph Lane in Manchester. Dinner includes spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drink. The cost is $10 per person, cash or check only. Memorial T-shirts are available for $10. Proceeds go to the family of Manchester police Detective David W. Prouty, who died May 24 at age 37.
ETHICAL SOCIETY YARD SALE: The Ethical Society Yard Sale is from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Road. Admission is $5 for the Aug. 5 early-bird special and free Aug. 6. The yard sale features furniture, sporting goods, books, lawn and garden items, toys and kitchen items.
